Halifax Wins Prestigious Awards from Canada’s Leading Meeting PlannersMonday, November 20, 2017 - 12:15
Last Friday, six Halifax-based organizations won awards in the Meetings + Incentive Travel (M+IT) 2017 Readers’ Choice Awards.
M+IT released the 2017 winners of the Readers’ Choice Awards first on their website, announcing four new categories including the category for Best Destination Marketing Organization, awarded to Discover Halifax. The other winners included The Lord Nelson Hotel & Suites (Downtown Halifax), Shore Club (Hubbards) and Atlantic Tours (Dartmouth).
“A well-deserved congratulations goes out to the outstanding hotels, venues and transportation providers across the Halifax Region who either won or held an honourable mention in their own respective categories,” said Ross Jefferson, President & CEO, Discover Halifax. “The truth is, Halifax’s success is a result of the efforts of a team approach including a number of great properties and service providers working together as a part of TEAM HALIFAX. “
Beginning in 1998, the Meetings + Incentive Travel’s Readers’ Choice Awards program aims to give meeting planners the chance to thank and celebrate the industry suppliers that make their events successful.
This year 1,893 votes were cast, drawing 77 nominations in 14 of the program’s 21 categories. Out of the 14 categories presented in this year’s issue, Halifax was eligible to qualify in 10. With four big wins (and two honorable mentions), Halifax won 40% of the eligible Readers’ Choice Awards categories.

This list o award recipients and categories will be circulated through the M+IT website, an e-Newsletter and The Readers’ Choice Awards issue of Meetings + Incentive Travel which was mailed out on November 16 (also can be viewed digitally).
