1 - SAVOUR FOOD & WINE FESTIVAL - January 15 – March 15
The Savour Food and Wine Festival is a series of six unique culinary and beverage events that showcase delicious local food, fantastic wines, creative cocktails and craft beer! See what event speaks to you most!
2 - EAST COAST MUSIC AWARDS IN HALIFAX - May 2 – 6
The East Coast Music Awards is a five-day, non-stop musical celebration showcasing and recognizing the best of East Coast artists and music. This event changes its locale every year, and we are thrilled that this year the East Coast Music Awards are taking place right here in Halifax!
3 - ROUTE SAINT-PIERRE ET MIQUELON SAILING RACE - June 22 - 26
The sailing event of summer 2018! The 9th edition of the renowned ocean race between Halifax and Saint-Pierre & Miquelon (France) where international sailors and sailing lovers from all around the world gather for a 350-mile competition! Boats will be located in Halifax Waterfront along the harbour walk, together with a great Festival “Saint-Pierre et Miquelon Des iles d’Exception” starting on June 22nd! Four days of live music, French gastronomy and legendary histories of sailors before race start on June 26th, 2018. A must!
4 - THE ROYAL NOVA SCOTIA INTERNATIONAL TATTOO - June 26 – July 2
Celebrating its 40th anniversary, the Royal Nova Scotia International Tattoo will have its classic bagpipes, highland dancers and military traditions with some new surprises! The Royal Nova Scotia International Tattoo is a week-long event held every year in Halifax. The two-and-a-half hour family show is fast-paced – every scene only lasts about 3-6 minutes – so there is always something new to see and experience.
5 - THE PEGGY'S COVE COASTAL REGION
The Peggy’s Cove Area is where you go to relax in nature, with its scenic drives, famous lighthouses, coastal beaches and delicious seafood… top that with picturesque hikes, historic sites and unique attractions. This is where you go to take a moment for yourself.
Most prominently, this region is known for its namesake: the Peggy’s Point Lighthouse. One of the most photographed lighthouses in Canada, even the world, Peggy’s Cove is an iconic Canadian image and one of Halifax’s most popular tourist attractions! .
6 - THE GREAT RACE - The race will finish July 1 in Halifax
Beginning in Buffalo, New York, The Great Race is a time, speed, endurance rally for vintage cars. Starting in June and ending on Canada Day right here in Halifax – it’s a grand event that will fill our city with classic and unique vintage vehicles for you to see up close!
7 - 90th ANNIVERSARY OF HALIFAX'S PIER 21 IMMIGRATION PORT - July 15
Pier 21 in downtown Halifax (now a National Historic Site) was the gateway to Canada for one million immigrants between 1928 and 1971. It also served as the departure point for 500,000 Canadian Military personnel during the Second World War. 2018 marks the 90th anniversary for Pier 21 – now a fascinating and recently renovated museum we highly encourage you to visit!
