Unique Social Programs and Entertainment

Our convention services department can suggest social activities, entertainment options, companion programs, children's activities and many other ideas for your delegates. We can introduce you to specialized destination management companies and other local contacts who can deliver these programs.

Customs, Tax Rebate and Customs Brokerage Information

We can connect you to custom brokers and meeting planners to expedite entry of exhibits and convention materials to Canada.

If you are a non-resident (non-Canadian) sponsor, organizer, exhibitor, incentive house, or a participant at an event in Nova Scotia, you may be eligible for a rebate of our Harmonized Sales Tax (HST) 15% provided that:

• at least 75% of your delegates must be non-residents of Canada and
• the host or sponsor of your event must be an organization with a head office situated outside Canada. If the organization has no head office, the member or majority of members with management control of the organization must be non-residents of Canada.

The following items may be eligible to claim for a rebate of HST:

• Convention facilities
• Advertising materials
• AV services
• Transportation services
• Speaker's fees
• Accommodations, etc.

Promotional Materials to Generate Excitement and Built Delegate Attendance

Destination Halifax will help you promote our wonderful destination by providing you with promotional literature - videos, slides, and printable brochures.   We can offer a variety of registration kit materials as well as official letters of invitation or welcome from either our Municipal or Provincial government. No visit to Halifax would be complete without a personalized "Order of Good Times Certificate", (from North America's oldest social club) for your out-of-town delegates.

We are currently able to offer:
• Complimentary mailing of the Doer's and Dreamer's Provincial travel guide to all registered delegates prior to their arrival in Halifax (client to supply pre-addressed labels).
• A limited supply of blank lure 'shells' for overprinting and pre-conference promotion to potential delegates.
