Destination Halifax Society (“Destination Halifax”) is a not-for-profit, non-commercial organization, and as such, is not governed by any privacy legislation.   Nonetheless, Destination Halifax has put in place the following Online Privacy Policy in an effort to safeguard visitor information and communications from unauthorized access.   “You”, means you, and “We” and “Us” means both You and Destination Halifax. The Destination Halifax website includes www.destinationhalifax.com and any and all Destination Halifax branded URLs.

Collection and Use: Destination Halifax does not collect information through its website that personally identifies individuals except when individuals provide such specific information on a voluntary basis.   Destination Halifax will collect, store, use and disclose personal information for a variety of purposes and free on-line services, including the following:

  • Registration for contests, giveaways, and other promotions
  • Establishing visitor eligibility for special offers or discounts
  • Registration for electronic newsletter
  • Identifying visitor preferences
  • To respond to information requests

Usage Data: Destination Halifax servers receive usage data when visitors visit Destination Halifax web sites, and when Destination Halifax users visit other sites as well. This anonymous data may include a record of which pages a web browser has visited. Disclosure: Destination Halifax will not sell, trade, or disclose to third parties any visitor personal information derived from the registration for or use of a Destination Halifax on-line service — including visitor names and addresses — without the consent of the visitor (except as required by legal process or in the case of imminent physical harm to the visitor or others). When Destination Halifax uses other agents, contractors or companies to perform services on its behalf, Destination Halifax will ensure that such agent, contractor or company protects your visitor personal information consistent with this Privacy Policy. 

Security: Destination Halifax has implemented technology and security features and strict policy guidelines to safeguard the privacy of your personal information from unauthorized access or improper use, and we will continue to enhance our security procedures as new technology becomes available.

E-mail Contents: Destination Halifax will not read or disclose to third parties private e-mail communications that are transmitted using Destination Halifax services except as required to operate the service or as otherwise authorized by law or by the visitor.

Retention and Destruction: Destination Halifax will destroy, erase or render anonymous information that is no longer required for our identified purposes or legal requirements.

Improper Conduct: Destination Halifax may also use visitor personal information to investigate and help prevent potentially unlawful activity or activity that threatens the network or otherwise violates the customer agreement for that service.

Accuracy: You may access, correct and delete your own personal information stored by Destination Halifax in reasonably retrievable form by contacting our privacy officer at privacy@destinationhalifax.com
