Free Diversity Spotlight film screening and Canadian premiere of the international award-winning Nollywood film, The Mirror Boy. The Mirror Boy explores identity within the African Diaspora through the story of 12-year-old, London-born Tijani's enchanting journey through The Gambia, following "the mirror boy," who only he can see. Introduction and Q&A session with the film's Writer and Director Obi Emelonye. Presented in partnership with the African Diaspora Association of the Maritimes and the Nova Scotia-Gambia Association. This film is rated PG and is presented in English. Event Time: 7-10 p.m.

This summer Metro Transit Ferry passengers will have the chance to be dazzled by tales of Halifax's seafaring history. From the founding of the of the city and shipwrecks in the harbour, to daring nighttime escapes during war and the Halifax Explosion, ferry passengers will experience Halifax's history in a unique and exciting way. As you travel on the oldest salt water ferry service in North America, sit back and let Jack Tar and the gang take you back in time.

For the second year in a row, Councillor Dawn Sloane, the Downtown Halifax Business Commission and the Halifax Regional Municipality in association with Music Nova Scotia, are presenting the free summer concert series "Tunes at Noon" featuring Nova Scotian performers from a range of musical genres.
Tunes at Noon will take place every Wednesday, Thursday and Friday at 12 noon to 1pm. The series will run from July 15 to August 28.

Tall Ships Nova Scotia Festival 2009

Ships from around the world will join many of Canada's finest sailing vessels to form the international gathering of world-class Tall Ships in Halifax from July 16 to 20, 2009.
Organizers are expecting 50-70 vessels making it the largest gathering of tall ships in North America in a decade.
The Tall Ships Atlantic Challenge 2009 is a spectacular race around the North Atlantic Ocean of more than 7,000 nautical miles. Ships will leave Halifax in a grand Parade of Sail on Monday, July 20 to begin the final leg of the race to Belfast, Northern Ireland.

Pirates Landing "Kids Zone"

CTV presents free family entertainment with a live Pirate show by DaPoPo Theatre, interactive educational exhibits, Oceans Wild, Touch Tank and Boater safety. Activites include treasure hunts, nautical knots, pirate stories, crafts and tattoos.
$8 per child for face painting, treasure digs and all you can bounce on three pirate inflatables.
There will be a Community Pancake Breakfast on Sunday from 9:30 am to 11:30 am.

The 2009 Quinpool Cruise will be held on July 17th at 7:30pm.Beginning at Quinpool Road, a parade of cars will tour downtown to Point Pleasant Park and travel back to Quinpool Road. Rain date is Sunday July 19th.
The Show and Shine will be held on July 19th from 8am to 4pm. See over 200 classic and specialty cars.

The 5th Annual Summer Concert Series, brought to you by Southwest Properties Limited and Bishop's Landing, will feature 9 free outdoor concerts that will take place at the Piazza at Bishop's Landing from 2-4 pm. The series will begin on Sunday July 19th and will run every Sunday until September 13th. Featured artists will range in talent from up and coming musicians to seasoned Maritime artists and audiences will enjoy genres from jazz, folk and Celtic to easy listening and rock.
