The Mirror Boy explores identity within the African Diaspora through the story of 12-year-old, London-born Tijani's enchanting journey through The Gambia, following "the mirror boy," who only he can see. Introduction and Q&A session with the film's Writer and Director Obi Emelonye. Presented in partnership with the African Diaspora Association of the Maritimes and the Nova Scotia-Gambia Association. DaPoPo Theatre and Metamorphic Theatre are remounting their original cabaret "So...What About Love?" after a successful run at the Atlantic Fringe Festival in 2009. The cabaret has been newly revamped and will run Feb 11-14 with the Feb 14th show benefiting "Until Violence Stops".
This heartbreaking song-cycle musical featuers original material about people in modern relationships and what/how those situations make you do/feel. It maps a journey from first love, breakup, adult romantic life and loss-connections shared with parents, partners, one-night stands and also audience members.
Tickets are $10 each except for the Feb 14th show which is $20.

6th Annual Brazilian Carnaval

Massa Music in association with JazzEast presents the 6th Annual Brazillian Carnaval featuring Montreal's Balako do Samba, Halifax's Samba Nova and DJ Regalia. Capoeria group Dende do Recife will also demonstrate music, dance and acrobatic skills of dizzying magnitudes- all in celebration of a Brazilian tradition and a global phenomenon: Carnaval!
