The Mirror Boy explores identity within the African Diaspora through the story of 12-year-old, London-born Tijani's enchanting journey through The Gambia, following "the mirror boy," who only he can see. Introduction and Q&A session with the film's Writer and Director Obi Emelonye. Presented in partnership with the African Diaspora Association of the Maritimes and the Nova Scotia-Gambia Association. Bud and his grandson-in-law Paul are going on a road trip from Calgary to Bud's retirement trailer in Mesa, Arizona. Paul is hoping the adventure of the trip will lift him out of his writer's block. Bud is hell-bent on visiting his favorite Motel 6 haunts along the way, and isn't willing to veer off the beaten path.
Written by Canadian playwright Doug Curtis, Mesa follows these unlikely travel companions as their often comic disagreements make way for a heartfelt friendship.

Chebucto Symphony Orchestra in Concert

The Chebucto Symphony Orchestra takes you away from the cold city streets to a rural setting in its upcoming concert at 2pm.
Under the musical direction of conductor Christopher Palmer, the orchestra will perform Larssons Pastoral Suite and Beethovens Pastoral Symphony. Michael Chisholm is the featured soloist for Mozarts Horn Concerto # 3.

Live Art Dance Productions presents Salt Truck Follies 2010

For three years running the Salt Truck Follies have proven to be one of the most anticipated fundraising events to rock Halifax. The signature event, Dancing with the Halifamous, features an eclectic mix of local celebrities who bravely take to the stage with a professional dance partner and a few hours worth of rehearsal with a local choreographer. Witty insights by a panel of celebrity judges make sure the fun is flowing in all directions. A riotous good time, the performances are accompanied by a silent auction, cash bar, light refreshments, and a host of additional talents.
All proceeds from the Salt Truck Follies assist Live Art with its annual programming activities.
Doors open at 7:30pm with the show beginning at 8:30pm.
