Halifax West High School presents "A Chorus Line"
May 27, 2010
- May 29, 2010
The stage is bare as dancers audition for spots on “A Chorus Line”. Every dancer is desperate for work. After the first cut, 17 dancers remain but there are roles only for eight. As the stories of these devoted dancers unfold from their early life through adulthood to the end of a career, we catch glimpses of the events that have shaped their lives and their decisions to become dancers. Michael Bennett created this story as a tribute to "gypsies"--Broadway chorus dancers-- characters who are not rich or famous, nor are they likely to be. Over the course of the story they bare legs, heart and soul just for the chance to be one body in a unified, faceless corps doing what they love more than anything - dancing. This box office hit won nine Tony Awards in addition to the 1976 Pulitzer Prize for Drama. It remains the fourth longest-running Broadway show ever.
Tickets are $15 adults, $10 seniors, students, child. Showtime is 8pm with an afternoon matinee on May 29th at 2pm.
