Free Diversity Spotlight film screening and Canadian premiere of the international award-winning Nollywood film, The Mirror Boy. The Mirror Boy explores identity within the African Diaspora through the story of 12-year-old, London-born Tijani's enchanting journey through The Gambia, following "the mirror boy," who only he can see. Introduction and Q&A session with the film's Writer and Director Obi Emelonye. Presented in partnership with the African Diaspora Association of the Maritimes and the Nova Scotia-Gambia Association. This film is rated PG and is presented in English. Event Time: 7-10 p.m.

Cuban Connections in partnership with the Nova-Scotia Cuba Association explores how elements of culture travel with people and are sustained and adapted to new environments. Complementing the exhibition will be artwork by Cuban artists, Similar Yet Different, a comparison through art of life in the provinces of Pinar del Río and Nova Scotia, as well as a children’s art display.

In partnership with the Vietnamese Association of Nova Scotia brings a collection of personal stories, photographs and artifacts, documenting the mass departure of Vietnamese refugees after the fall of Saigon in 1975. The exhibition reveals the strength and resilience of Vietnamese Canadians and is the first of its kind in Nova Scotia.

Dalhousie Chamber Choir presents music from the Renaissance

The Dalhousie Chamber Choir presents an eclectic program of choralrepertoire spanning several centuries. From the poignant beauty of Palestrina’s Sicut Cervus and Monteverdi’s Cantate Domino, through to the
profundity of Eric Whitacre’s A Boy and a Girl, the Chamber Choir presents music that focuses on the allure of the melodic line. Also featured on the program: music by René Clausen and Otto Olsson, as well as the world premiere of Dalhousie composition student Sophie Dupuis’ Hasards. The choir is also pleased to present Franz Schubert’s Ständchen with soloist mezzo
soprano Marcia Swanston.
The 21-voice Dalhousie Chamber Choir is directed by Gary Ewer.
