The Mirror Boy explores identity within the African Diaspora through the story of 12-year-old, London-born Tijani's enchanting journey through The Gambia, following "the mirror boy," who only he can see. Introduction and Q&A session with the film's Writer and Director Obi Emelonye. Presented in partnership with the African Diaspora Association of the Maritimes and the Nova Scotia-Gambia Association. Maritime Marionettes presents the favorite folktale of an aging donkey who follows his dream to become a musician. On the road to Bremen town, he befriends a dog, a cat and a rooster, who like him, are no longer needed as farm animals. Together they form a comical quartet and a bond that will last the rest of their lives.
The visuals of the show are performed with eloquent shadow puppets, exquisitely made marionettes and the Taylor's masterful manipulation. The inspiring soundtrack combines bedtime story style narration, whimsical music and side splitting animal sounds.
From the opening scene to the hilarious and touching ending, this timeless tale of friendship and enthusiasm for life will inspire and entertain the child in us all.

Bedford United Church presents "A Nova Scotia Christmas Celebration"

The Bedford United Church is hosting Clary Croft with guests Gordon Stobbe and Margo Carruthers at 7pm.
The show is a collection of traditional and contemporary songs from the Maritimes, interspersed with stories of traditions, beliefs, superstitions, customs, foods and short readings from the works of Maritime writers who have used the Christmas holidays as their themes.
The show of approximately 50 minutes, is followed by a sing-along session with the audience, featuring old time Christmas songs - both religious and secular.
There will be a small reception with refreshments following the show with an opportunity to talk with the musicians and purchase CDs.
Tickets are $10 adult or $35 family of four in advance, $12 adult or $43 family of four at the door.
